It’s kinda been a while, sorry, I seem to be talented at not doing things/ forgetting to do things
I didn’t really know what to write about if I’m honest. but I’ve been busy rescently do thought I do a bit of an update.
Over the past 3 weeks (and next week) I’ve been doing NCS (national citizen service). I wasn’t sure how much I’d enjoy it to begin with, however I’ve had so much fun.
If you didn’t know, NCS is a government scheme in the UK for teens after they leave high school (year eleven). As part of it you do a residential in an outward bound place, a residential at a university- then two weeks fundraising/ social action.
I’ve genuinely loved all 3 weeks so far- I liked the busyness of the outward bound, having the opportunity to do different activities like rafting or fencing. I also found the relaxation, and setting of the week at a uni really great too as it gave time to socialise and get to know people more. This past week has been fun as well as I’ve enjoyed taking action in the community and working with my team.
As I mentioned before, we’re in teams for the program- although I knew 3 other people doing it, I was put in a team separate to them- not knowing anyone on my team to start with. Though it was a little scary, I have got to know my team quite well- they’re all so lovely and easy to talk to, so the whole experience has been brilliant.
At the moment we’re fundraising for a charity that supports families affected by childhood cancer.
Overall I’ve love my time at NCS so far- and would recommend it if you’re thinking about taking part as it helps to challenge you and you can meet new people.
I’m going to try and post more often now that it’s summer, though I ant garuntee it (sorry).
I hope all is well.
